Help with earth science regents? cold fronts, warm fronts, etc.?
so i have the earth science regents and im kinda scared about them because im not really that good in science. but i got 15 out of 16 points on the practical part and tomorrow i have the multiple choice and short answer. i have been studying a lot for the past couple days but i still do not get cold fronts, warm fronts, occluded fronts, stationary fronts and stuff that has to do with them. i will start by telling you what i do know: the symbols. i get which is which, no confusion there:) and i know that they mostly form in low pressure systems and that rain usually comes with them and that cold fronts bring steady rain while warm fronts bring random heavy rain?i think.... and then i know that the cold front brings cold air to a location while a warm front brings warm and it leaves behind that opposite of what it brings and i know the really dumb basic stuff like that. but i have like no idea on everything else! for example, when there are fronts drawn on a map, i completey spaz out because most questions that are related to that, i have no idea how to answer. couple questions im confused about: Explain why the warm air is rising along the warm front. is it because warm fronts bring warm air? also if they like draw a diagram of a cold front and warm front and ask:Identify the most likely geographic source region for air mass what is the answer for that?! another one is : Identify one process that causes clouds to form in the air rising along the frontal surface between air mass A and air mass B( there is a picture of a cold front im pretty sure). i would write condensation but i dont think that is correct. .and there are all sorts of questions that just make me freak out and the one i just wrote was one of the easier ones. but basically can somebody please explain the basics of fronts as well as how to answer questions based on maps with fronts on them adn just anything you can think about fronts, please? i have been trying to ask my science teacher for the past couple days but i haven't had class for a while with her due to graduation practice, half a days, other regents and just stuff like that. please help. even a little piece of information may help me! please?
